Dramaturgy workshop with Vicki Stroich
Dramaturgy: Supporting storytellers as they craft their stories.
Dramaturgy is a creative practice that supports playwrights, devisers, choreographers and performing artists of all kinds as they create new work. This workshop will explore the different functions a dramaturg can have in a creative process and share some dramaturgical approaches for supporting artists as they craft new work.

Lunch & Round Table on “Producing in Small and Rural Communities”
A facilitated conversation with Kootenay theatre-makers/producers about the joys and challenges of producing theatre in a rural context, and how our community can build our practices and capacity together.
Featuring Pat Henman, Avi Lewis, and other local theatre producers/Lab attendees.

Improv workshop with Michelle Hart
In this two-hour workshop, you'll learn the basics of improv! We'll cover the essentials for a successful improv scene during the first hour. In the second hour, we'll focus on implementing these skills in practice. Come enjoy a fun, friendly, and supportive environment and experience the magic of "Yes, And!"

Viewpoints & Vocal Warm-ups Val Campbell & Lisa Dery
Performance Lab participants are invited to begin each day in ensemble work. Viewpoints is a playful and collaborative movement -based artistic practice. Each ‘viewpoint’ provides a clear structure that allows performers to practice and explore physical impulse, precision and collective reciprocity.
Vocal Warm-ups will help performers build their vocal range and resiliency.

Acting workshop with Val Campbell
This workshop will offer an immersive session of investigation into the foundations of the actor’s work and to open wide the door to expressivity. The intention of the session will be to: Increase spontaneity, playfulness and freedom and to move towards an expanded and fuller expression of your creative self. Suitable for both performers and those interested in the creative process.

Clown Playshop with Marya Folinsbee
Clowning is a theatrical (and life) practice that prioritizes presence, audience connection, and authenticity. It’s a great tool for theatre-makers who want to explore vulnerability onstage and become more comfortable with spontaneity and connection onstage. It’s also a great way in to developing new work. This workshop will be a simple introduction to clown, with some useful exercises for performers.
